In his discussion of the verse “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,” with which the Rambam prefaces the book of “Avodah” (Temple Service), the Rebbe explains that engaging in the laws of the Holy Temple is not merely a “remembrance of the Temple” that we perform for a Temple that was destroyed in the past, but rather that studying the laws and matters of the Temple is itself a part of its rebuilding. Therefore, the Rambam quotes the aforementioned verse in order to convey the obligation to study the laws of the ‘Chosen House’ —”Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.”
Over the course of recent decades, several projects of great importance have been established, with the goal of presenting models of the Holy Temple and its vessels, and of encouraging study and engagement with the laws relevant to its rebuilding and its various services. Unquestionably, this is a noble and important matter.
The book “The holy Temple rebuilt” deals with the deep significance of the internal aspects of the Holy Temple, the implications of the rebuilding of the House upon the people of Israel as a nation, for the human soul, for the spiritual status of the individual, and for the Temple as a starting point from which the most significant global revolution in human history will begin: the redirection of all resources toward creating a life of spiritual meaning, while halting the race after materialism and the aspiration to achieve it.
As the purpose of the book is to awaken every Jew in the world to the building of the Temple, I have set a goal to translate the book into a minimum of six languages: Hebrew, English, Russian, French, Spanish, and Portuguese, and to bring the message of the Holy Temple to the entire world.
